After squads were announced for tours of New Zealand and Bangladesh, Indian youngsters Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi were found overlooked by the selectors. Now, chief selector Chetan Sharma has opened up on the non-selection of the key player.

According to Sharma, Shaw's name was up for debate but wasn't considered as the players in the current setup were given priority. However, he added that they have been in constant touch with him, given his recent form in the domestic circuit.

"We basically are looking at Prithvi, we're constantly in touch with Prithvi, he has been doing well. There's nothing wrong with him at all. The thing is - the players who are already playing and those who are performing, they have got their chances,"

He also said that Shaw would get the opportunity in due time, with selectors eyeing him.

"He [Shaw] will definitely get his chance. The selectors are in constant touch with him, talking to him, he is doing well, and he will get his chances very soon,"

Furthermore, batter Sarfaraz Khan has been in terrific form this domestic season, where he stood out with more than 1300 runs. However, after not being considered, Sharma said he would have to wait a little more for his chance.

"We are giving him the opportunities, where we can. We opted for him in the India A squad. I've been speaking about him to the selectors as well. He will get an opportunity very soon."

India will be touring New Zealand and Bangladesh beginning after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
