Dewald Brevis blasted his way to a record shattering ton against Knights in the CSA T20 Challenge 2022. The opening batter bludgeoned 162 runs in a gallivanting knock featuring 13 boundaries and 13 towering sixes.

The cricketer faced just 57 deliveries throughout the Titans’ innings, and turbo-charged his side to a massive 271-3 off their 20 overs.

Dewald Brevis piles up T20 records with historic knock

Dewald Brevis’ 162-run hurricane now marks as the fastest T20 hundred and the highest individual score in South Africa’s domestic T20 history. The right-hander raced to his hundred off just the 35th delivery of his innings, and reached the 150-run mark in 52 balls.

Brevis’ knock is also the highest individual score by any South African batter in T20 cricket, surpassing Quinton de Kock’s 140* against the KKR in IPL 2022. Moreover, the 19-year-old also became the youngest cricketer ever to score 150+ in a T20 inning, bettering Afghanistan-based Hazratullah Zazai who did so in an international at the age of 20 years and 337 days.

Apart from plundering South African records, the youngster achieved the third-joint highest individual score in T20s, and is just behind Chris Gayle and Aaron Finch in the overall charts. His 35-ball effort also makes him the fifth-joint fastest century maker in the format.

The century, marking the first of Brevis’ competitive T20 career, nearly tripled his previous highest score of 57 in the format.
