Former England ace Paul Collingwood has laid down a challenge to the players ahead of their crunch clash against New Zealand tomorrow.

The Three Lions are currently second in their group with three points from three matches. Meanwhile, New Zealand are top with five points from the same number of matches.

England cannot afford to slip up if they want to make it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022. A loss against the Kiwis will leave their fate to chance and they would have to depend on other results.

Collingwood, the England assistant coach, knows all about playing in high pressure games and he has urged the players to step up and get the job done. He claims that the Three Lions will need to treat their next four games as must-win encounters and they could win the World Cup if they do that.

As quoted by NDTV, Collingwood said:

"There's a lot of excitement around because we know if we get it right in the next four games we've got an opportunity to win a World Cup. We're almost into the knockout stage now with how we've got to go about our cricket with must-win games and this is why we play the game.

"It's a position you want to be in with an opportunity to win the World Cup and tomorrow kickstarts hopefully our momentum and our campaign.

"We put in a good performance tomorrow and that will give us a lot of confidence for the last three games."

England have two more group games left to play and they will need to win the semis and the final as well if they are to go all the way.

There is no doubt that England have the quality and experience to go on a winning run. They will be hoping for some luck in terms of weather. Earlier in the tournament, they were handed an unfortunate defeat against Ireland because of rain.
