In a remarkable turn of events, star Pakistani keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has completed 2500 runs in T20Is. Rizwan, who currently tops the T20I batters' rankings, achieved this phenomenal feat during Pakistan's third Super 12 fixture against the Netherlands in Perth. In this process, he became the third Pakistani batter after Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez to attain the milestone.

Highest run-scorers for Pakistan in T20Is

  • Babar Azam - 3239 runs, average: 42.06
  • Mohammad Rizwan - 2527 runs, average: 50.54
  • Mohammad Hafeez - 2514 runs, average: 26.46
  • Shoaib Malik - 2423, average: 31.46
  • Umar Akmal - 1690, average: 26

Opening the batting, Rizwan hammered 49 runs in 39 balls to ensure Pakistan's one-sided six-wicket victory. Although the Men in Green lost skipper Babar Azam early, Rizwan's gorgeous knock helped them get over the finish line with 37 balls to spare.

Since debuting against Bangladesh in 2015, Rizwan has gradually established himself as a vital cog in the Pakistani batting lineup. He has scripted innumerable wins for his team, forming a lethal opening pair alongside Babar Azam.

The Peshawar-born had a stellar Asia Cup 2022 campaign, amassing 281 runs at an incredible average of 56.20. As he recorded consecutive failures against India and Zimbabwe, his today's knock must have boosted his confidence. Also, his return to form is a big positive for Pakistan, as they gear up for their remaining Super 12 fixtures against South Africa and Zimbabwe.
