In a significant development, Cricket West Indies has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming Test series in Australia. Promising batter Tagenarine Chanderpaul has received his maiden call-up, while experienced players Shamarh Brooks and Roston Chase have been recalled into the team. Veteran opener Kraigg Brathwaite will lead the team, while Jermaine Blackwood is set to play his deputy.

Chief selector Desmond Haynes revealed Chanderpaul has been rewarded for his incredible consistency at the domestic level. He also lauded the youngster for his ability and expected him to prove his mettle in the Test series Down Under.

The legendary former opener also explained how the inclusion of Brooks and Chase would boost West Indies' middle order.

Here's what Haynes stated

"We have one newcomer to the team in Tagenarine Chanderpaul. He equipped himself very well in the West Indies Championship four-day matches and also did a very good job at the top of the order against Bangladesh A in Saint Lucia this summer. He has what it takes to do well at the highest level,

"Roston Chase has returned to the squad as an allrounder and we believe his experience and skill set will be beneficial and Shamarh Brooks has also returned to bolster the middle-order batting."
