Sikandar Raza thanks Ricky Ponting after spectacular performance

It was one of the best moments of the T20 World Cup 2022 when Zimbabwe ran over Pakistan by a meagre margin of just 1 run on the very final delivery, thanks to an outstanding bowling performance especially Sikandar Raza who scalped three wickets.

After the match, Raza's emotions were quite visible as he did not shy away from crediting a Ricky Ponting video which he said persuaded him to give his best during the game. While maintaining his calmness, he ensured to be pumped up for this epic encounter.

Furthermore, he mentioned that his family and friends were having a teary eye while watching the video as the Aussie great was all praise from the Zimbabwean who said he plays like 26 while being 36.

"When I woke up a friend of mine sent me a message and said, ‘hey have you seen a clip on the ICC page? Before I ruin it for you maybe have a look,

“That was Ricky Ponting talking about Zimbabwe and in particular me,

“Some of my friends and family members messaged and they said they had a kind of tear in the eye. For me, I had goosebumps – one of the greats of the game talking about Zimbabwe and in particular me,

“Not that I need an extra kick, but if I needed one that clip did the job for me. I wanted to stay calm but also pumped up for this game.”

Zimbabwe's Raza will next be seen in action against Bangladesh on 30th October at the Gabba, Brisbane.
