With just weeks remaining for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to release as many as three players, including all-rounder Shardul Thakur.

Thakur joined the Capitals from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 10.75 cr, managed just 120 runs, and picked up 15 wickets in IPL 2022, well below his standards. Overall, the 31-year-old has played 75 IPL games, picking 82 wickets and amassing 173 runs.

Shardul is currently travelling with the Indian T20I squad as a reserve player for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.

As per a report in cricbuzz, apart from Thakur, KS Bharat and Mandeep Singh will also be let go from the franchise. With Rishabh Pant donning the gloves regularly, Bharat has struggled to find a place in the XI after coming in from an phenomenal 2021 edition with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Meanwhile, Singh scored just 18 runs in three outings last season. However, the team management could back Thakur from the auction at a lowered price.

The deadline to announce the list of released players to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is November 15. The upcoming auction could take place in Bangalore or Istanbul.
