After England's tournament opener against Afghanistan, that ended in a win, the Three Lions faced Ireland in a rain stricken match that eventually Ireland went on to win through the DLS method.

England now need to win the remaining three fixtures to make it to the Semi-finals. Their next battle is against the defending champions Australia. All-rounder Liam Livingstone has stated that Australia are the perfect opponent for England to redeem themselves against.

What Livingstone said

“We know where we need to get better and we’ve got a massive challenge on Friday night, I’m sure everybody will be looking forward to that, park this and move on to Friday.

“We’ll take confidence from the results we had against them in that series in their own conditions. I think it’s going to be a good game and certainly one everybody is going to be excited for."

“If ever there was a game to bounce back in it’s against Australia at the MCG.”

Livingstone's comeback

The all-rounder made it back into the squad after a two-month long injury break after sustaining an ankle injury. In the contest against Afghanistan, Livingstone contributed an unbeaten 29.

He also talked about being sent up the order. Livingstone holds the record of the fastest century in 42 balls.

“I’m certainly not going to say no. I’ve felt good from game one. Unfortunately I didn’t get my chance to do my job (against Ireland). Hopefully, come Friday, things will be different.”
