In a remarkable turn of events, ace pacer Anrich Nortje has set the record for the best bowling figures by a South African bowler in T20 World Cup history. Nortje attained this phenomenal feat during South Africa's second Super 12 encounter against Bangladesh in Sydney on Thursday.

Chasing a mammoth target of 206 runs, Bangladesh got off to a flier, courtesy of a brisk 26-run opening stand between Najmul Hossain Shanto and Soumya Sarkar. However, Nortje emerged as South Africa's saviour, removing both these batters quickly.

Then, he trapped Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan plumb in front of the stumps, swinging the game entirely into his team's favour. Finally, the fiery fast bowler castled Taskin Ahmed to register sensational bowling figures of four for 10 in 3.3 overs.

In this process, Nortje broke Wayne Parnell's record to become the Proteas bowler with the best bowling figures in the history of the tournament.
