In a historic decision, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced implementing the most-awaited pay equity policy going forward. As per the policy, Indian women will be treated equally to their male counterparts, receiving the same match fees across formats.

Legendary former Indian captain Mithali Raj has welcomed this remarkable decision by the board. Addressing BCCI secretary Mr Jay Shah as a well-wisher of Women's cricket, she opined the pay equity policy would inspire all India's centrally contracted women cricketers.

Here's what Mithali Raj commented

"Mr Jay shah is very proactive for the cause of women's cricket, which wasn't the case in the past. The girls are doing well; it's a huge thing for them. This boost will inspire them."

Putting the male and female cricketers under the same pay scale is the first significant decision taken by the board after Roger Binny took the reins as the president. Promising keeper-batter Yastika Bhatia also took to her Twitter handle to thank the apex body and Jay Shah.

Cricket fanatics around the country had been voicing for an equal pay scale for India women for a long time. Finally, with the BCCI approving the policy, we can see many young girls getting inspired and opting for careers in the cricket field.
