Virat Kohli played a remarkable knock against Pakistan to guide the Men in Blue to a memorable win in their T20 World Cup 2022 opener on Sunday.

During the course of his innings, the Indian batter smacked a six off Haris Rauf with a straight bat over long on.

Kohli sending Rauf's length ball sailing into the stands seemed nigh-on impossible for any ordinary player and former Indian coach Ravi Shastri has now reflected on the piece of magic from the 33-year-old.

The Indian legend revealed (as quoted by NDTV) that it was one of the best shots he has seen in his life. Shastri compared it to a miraculous shot from Sachin Tendulkar in the past.

"In all my years of playing and watching India vs Pakistan, those two sixes off Haris Rauf are two of the greatest shots played by an Indian batsman. The only comparison is Sachin Tendulkar's six off Shoaib Akhtar in Centurion in 2003 World Cup. These are two of the greatest cricketers of our time. Tendulkar's knock had some of the magnificent shots played in white-ball cricket against Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar. And then this Kohli knock. These two are the biggest knocks I have seen where quality fast bowling has been taken apart."

India will be hoping to win the World Cup this year having performed poorly in recent ICC events. They will need Kohli to keep firing on cylinders in order for that to happen.

After a few years of sub-par performances, Kohli's return to form could not have been better timed. He will be looking to build on his match-winning knock against Pakistan in the upcoming matches now.
