T20 World Cup 2022: Mark Boucher reflects on the washout against Zimbabwe

Rain again cost South Africa the perfect chance to attain two valuable points against Zimbabwe last evening in Hobart in the Super 12 Group 2 match in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.

Chasing 80 to win in nine overs, Quinton de Kock rocketed the Proteas to 51 in 3 overs before rain played spoilsport, and umpires were forced to call the game off.  Both teams shared one point apiece.

South Africa's tryst with rain in World Cups is quite well-known and is much talked about whenever such a thing happens.

Head coach Mark Boucher, who has been part of several such rain-marred games for South Africa as a player, said that his team has no regrets. In a report in ESPNcricinfo, Boucher stated that South Africa looks forward to playing cricket only.

"We haven't had a good history with rain, but we'd rather have it in the first game, now where we are still in control with what we can actually do.

There's not much more we could do. We maximised what we could, so there's no regrets in our dressing room."

South Africa lock horns with Bangladesh on Thursday at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
