T20 World Cup 2022: Moments of Day 2

It was a blockbuster Sunday if T20 World Cup 2022 is concerned. There were once again two encounters in the day.

The first match was between Sri Lanka and Ireland, while the second was the mother of all rivalries, India vs Pakistan. Let us look at the top moments of day 2 of Super 12 in ICC T20 World Cup 2022. 

1st Match: Sri Lanka vs Ireland

In the first match Ireland won the toss and decided to bat first.  Ireland posted a total of 128 runs in their 20 overs. The top scorer for them was Harry Tector, who scored 45 runs off 42 deliveries. The pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka was Maheesh Theekshana, who bowled 4 overs and picked up 2 wickets in them conceding just 19 runs. 

Sri Lanka chased down the target very easily. Kusal Mendis played a steady knock to score a half century (68 off 43) . They chased down the target losing only 1 wicket and with 5 overs remaining in the match.

2nd Match: India vs Pakistan

The second clash of the day was between India and Pakistan. India won the toss in the match and opted to field first. The Indian bowlers were on spot from the very beginning of the innings. But Pakistan made a strong comeback and were able to post 159 runs in their 20 overs. 

In the chase Pakistan tightened their grip on the match with some early wickets. But Virat Kohli played a classic knock of 82 runs off 53 balls to win the match for India. He got Pandya alongside him who supported him to stabilise the ship for India under pressure.
