In a remarkable turn of events, veteran New Zealand seamer Tim Southee has set the record for the most number of dismissals in T20Is. Southee attained this incredible feat during New Zealand's first Super 12 encounter against Australia.

Bowling the second over, Southee castled David Warner with a well-disguised slow ball. With this, the Kiwi spearhead surpassed Shakib Al Hasan's tally of 122 wickets to become the most successful bowler in T20I history.

Southee wreaked havoc in the Australian camp, registering magical bowling figures of three for six in the match.

Five most successful bowlers in T20Is

  • Tim Southee - 125 wickets
  • Shakib Al Hasan - 122 wickets
  • Rashid Khan - 118 wickets
  • Lasith Malinga- 107 wickets
  • Ish Sodhi - 104 wickets

After debuting against England in 2008, Southee gradually established himself as a vital cog in New Zealand's bowling lineup. The experienced pacer has served New Zealand with distinction over the years, emerging as a trump card with the ball on multiple occasions.

Regarding the game, Devon Conway's blistering 92 propelled New Zealand to a massive total of 200 in 20 overs. In response, Australia were bundled out for a paltry 111, losing the game by a massive 89-run margin.
