Cricket Scotland on Friday (October 21) announced the appointment of two new board members, amid racism issues.

Earlier this year, a damning report by Plan4Sport found the Scottish cricket board to be institutionally racist.

A total of 448 indicators of racism were published in the report,  highlighting problems like lack of Diversity, racial abuse and favouritism to white players.

The committee was formed on the complaints of former Scotland cricketers Majid Haq and Qasim Sheikh.

As per the recommendation of independent reviewers, law firm Harper MacLeod LLP and charity firm Sporting Equals were given the responsibility to carry out the investigation for complaints on the basis of testimony by over 1,000 individuals.

In this regard, governance expert Anne-Marie Garner and inclusion specialist Ajit Trivedi are the two new inclusions in the Cricket Scotland board.

Anjan Luthra, the newly appointed chairman of Cricket Scotland thinks the appointment of both individuals as a necessary step for the future.

“Their appointments represent a major step forward in terms of creating a skilled and truly diverse board that will forge a new future for our sport,” Luthra said.

Here is what new appointees said:

"There can be no place for racism in Scottish cricket. The next few months will be key to rebuilding the sport and I am confident that if we all pull together, we change the game for the better," said Trivedi.

“This has been a challenging time for the sport but we have a huge opportunity to put that right and we must now follow through and tackle the problems we face including racism," said Garner.
