Durham's all-time leading wicket-taker, Chris Rushworth has left the club with immediate effect, citing personal reasons.

The 36-year-old seamer played a vital role in Durham's 2013 Championship triumph, scalping 54 wickets at an average of 22.26.

Rushworth etched his name in the history books in 2021 with his 528th first-class wicket, surpassing club legend Graham Onion. Moreover, he stayed with the club during their tough times which led to their relegation from Division One and several senior players leaving the club.

What did Rushworth had to say about his departure?

"My decision to leave Durham was far from easy, made after careful consideration. But I have to state that this decision has been made for personal reasons alone and not cricketing reasons and for that I give heartfelt thank you to Tim Bostock, Marcus North and the club for allowing me to leave."

"Durham is and has always been my club and that will be the case in the future as well. I've been proud to represent this club for so long and the memories will last forever," Rushworth further added.
