A year ago, Ireland suffered a heartbreak as they crashed out of the T20 World Cup after losing to Namibia in their final group stage encounter. However, they compensated for it in the most suitable fashion this year, breaking the jinx with a stunning nine-wicket win over West Indies on Friday.

The victory ensured their progression to the Super 12, simultaneously knocking the Men in Maroon out of the competition.

Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie expressed his emotions following their thumping win. He seemed thrilled with Ireland's amazing performance and revealed how the entire unit had worked tirelessly to make their dreams come true.

Here's how Balbirnie reacted to Ireland's clinical victory

"This means everything to us. We were so disappointed to miss out at this stage last year, so we had to do a lot of thinking and make a lot of changes back home,”

"We set out some things we wanted to achieve as a team and how we wanted to play. And here, we lost our first game, but to then come back and beat the two-time champions in a must-win game, I could not be prouder."

The Irishmen showed exemplary control with the ball to restrict West Indies to a paltry 146. Later, the fireworks from Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker guided the chase, playing scintillating unbeaten knocks of 66 and 45 runs, respectively.
