Pakistan will be taking on India in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2022. Shaheen Afridi's form with the ball will be big factor in Pakistan's journey in the tournament.

The speedster has recently recovered from knee injury that he suffered back in July during the Test series against Sri Lanka. He was out of action since and missed out on a lot of important clashes. In fact he also missed out from the Asia Cup 2022 where Pakistan emerged as the runners-up.

In a recent conversation, Shaheen opened up about his journey of recovering from the injury. He stated that it was not at all easy for him and really challenging to deal with the issues he faced with walking.

I missed playing on the field : Shaheen Shah Afridi

"It was and adamant phase in rehab, and I missed playing on the field. But despite being away from the game, I did call my teammates at times and spoke to them."

"Slowly, I regained 80 percent fitness, then 90, and finally 100 percent. When you return from an injury, the body does not react perfectly, but I understood that I must be patient. I thank my fans for the love and support."

Difficult may have been his journey to fitness. But to the relief of the Pakistan team management and fans, Afridi is now fit and all set to go.

In the recent World Cup practice match, Shaheen was looked in a decent form. One of his lethal yorkers, hit Rahmanullah Gurbaz on the toes and after that the batter had to carried off the park.

Pakistan will be hoping that he regains his form soon, and by the tournament they take the field against India he is at his best.
