Liam Livingstone is racing to be 100 per cent fit and available for England's first fixture of the T20 World Cup against Afghanistan on Saturday (October 22).

Livingstone sustained an ankle injury during the Hundred 2022, which ruled him out of the seven-match T20I series in Pakistan. However, he returned to England shirts in the T20 WC warm-up game against Pakistan and slammed 28 off 16 while also finishing with impressive bowling figures of one for 8.

However, the swashbuckling batter is taking precautions even on flights due to the bandages wrapped on his ankle. Livingstone revealed that he was at 90 per cent fitness during the warm-up game.

The 29-year-old is enduring a little pain during the training and undergoes an icing session in the afternoon. But he thinks it's all worth it for the sake of England's World Cup chances.

Furthermore, Livingstone was relieved after contributing well with the ball in the warm-up game.

Here's what Livingstone stated

"I pretty much played at 90 per cent. I just wanted to make sure I got back to cricket and got through my bowling, which has been my main worry. I’ve still got some work batting-wise but I’m close to where I want to be,"

"I’ve done everything I can to make sure I’m fit and available for Saturday. I’m pretty happy with where I’m at and we’ve still got another few days before the first game."

It will be a toss-up between Harry Brook and Livingstone for a place in the line-up if Jos Buttler-led side opts to play with both Sam Curran and Chris Woakes against Afghanistan.
