England white-ball captain Jos Buttler has signed a contract extension for three more years with Lancashire Cricket Club. He will stay with the club for at least till the end of the 2025 domestic season.

Buttler switched to Lancashire from Somerset in 2013. He slammed 161 runs in four innings and played a key role to secure a title victory for Red Roses in the 2015 edition of the T20 Blast.

However, the 32-year-old has not represented the Club in County Championship since the 2018 season. In his only appearance in the T20 Blast this year, the swashbuckling batter smoked 42 off 29 against Worcestershire.

Following the signing of contract, Buttler reckoned that he might have not featured in enough matches in the last few editions, but feels privileged to play for Lancashire. Furthermore, he hoped to play for the Club more often in the next three years.

“I am really pleased to commit my county cricket future to Lancashire, the Club which provided me with an opportunity to achieve my ambitions when I joined from Somerset back in 2013," said Buttler.

“Whilst I have not had the opportunity to come back as much as I would have liked in recent seasons, it is always a privilege to represent the Red Rose and play at Emirates Old Trafford in front of our Members and supporters."

After taking over the reins from Eoin Morgan as a white-ball captain, Buttler is busy preparing for the T20 World Cup 2022. In his first appearance after recovering from injury, the top-order batter slammed 68 off 32 balls in a T20I against Australia earlier this month.

He emerged as the top-scorer in the three-match series with 150 runs in three games, and is heading into T20 World Cup with sublime form.

England will kick-off their T20 WC campaign against Afghanistan on Saturday (October 22) at Perth.
