Steve Smith completes 1000 runs in T20I cricket

In the third and final match of the T20I series between England and Australia at Canberra, the visitors are going strong. In a rain interrupted match Australia was tasked with chasing down 130 runs in 12 overs. 

During the chase Steve Smith came to bat out when his team was stationed at 0 for 2. On the second ball of the third over Smith played a brilliantly timed square drive past the cover-point region to go past his 1000 runs in the T20I format. He goes past the landmark in his 50th T20I innings. 

Smith's current career looks like-

As far as the match is concerned, England batted first and courtesy of a 65 off 41 balls by skipper Jos Buttler they posted 112 runs in 12 overs. Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins picked up a wicket each for Australia. 

During the chase Australia lost Aaron Finch and Mitchell Marsh in the very first over. Glenn Maxwell as seen opening for the Men in Yellow, but the experiment did not pay off for them, as Maxwell only managed to score 8 runs. At present Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis were batting in the middle for Australia with the team's score at 30 for 3 in 3.5 overs. Rain interrupted play at this stage and the match has been called off.

England have won the series 2-0.
