No bilateral series between India and Pakistan till 2027

India and Pakistan have not faced each other in a bilateral series since 2012-13 when the latter toured Indian shores for a short ODI and T20I series. Geopolitical tensions between the two nations have soured their relationships on the sports field as well.

The impasse will continue until 2027 as well, with no signs of bilateral series in ICC's Future Tours Programme (FTP) for the 2023-2027 cycle. In a letter to state associations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) kept the column for matches against Pakistan blank.

As per a report in News18, there was a significant dip in the number of bilateral matches across formats for India, being reduced from 163 to 141 in the 2023-27 cycle, owing to multiple ICC events planned.

​“However, the number of home Test matches has gone up along with an optimum mix of quality opponents across all three international formats. A regular IPL season along with a fixed home season also allows for ideal preparation against quality opponents in the right format going into ICC events.” 

Both teams have only played in multi-nation events like  ICC World Cup, T20 World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy and Asia Cup since 2013.

They will clash once again on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium in the ICC World Cup 2022.
