Sourav Ganguly is reportedly being shown the door by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with his tenure as its president coming to an end.

With Ganguly's exit as the BCCI president all but clear, he spoke up, citing how he cannot be an administrator forever.

'I will go on to do bigger things in future'

Hinting at his next move, Ganguly asserted that he will reach new heights in future. Notably, he is touted as India's representative, who will contest for the position of the ICC chairman in the upcoming elections.

"I was the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal for five years. I have been president of BCCI for years. After all these terms, you have to leave and go. As an administrator, you have to contribute a lot and make things better for the team. Me being a player, who was around for a long time, understood it. I enjoyed my time as an administrator thoroughly. You cannot play forever and you cannot remain in administration forever," Ganguly said in an event at Kolkata.

"Whatever you do in life, I keep telling everyone that the best days were when you play for the country. I have seen so much after that. I've been the president of the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal), I was the president of BCCI, I will go on to do bigger things in future. But those 15 years were the best days of my life," he added.

A shift in power

India's 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny is expected to replace Ganguly. Arun Dhumal, who is the BCCI treasurer, will be succeeded by BJP MLA Ashish Shelar. Jay Shah will continue as the board secretary.

All the candidates filed their nominations on October 11 and 12 for the respective positions with the official announcement expected on October 18, the election date.
