Australian batter David Warner might just be on the cusp of seeing some light at the end of a tunnel with regards to his captaincy ban.

The 35-year-old was banned from captaining his country following the ball-tampering scandal in 2018. However, the decision could now be overturned with the directors of Cricket Australia expected to rewrite the organisation's code of ethics.

A report from The New Daily claims that Warner's captaincy ban could be lifted as soon as tomorrow.

The 35-year-old has been tipped to succeed Aaron Finch as Australia's next ODI captain. Finch will captain the Aussies in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 but he has decided to relinquish his duties as the captain of the ODI team.

Warner has been a key player for his country over the years and the lift of the ban could come as a huge relief for him. It would be a weight lifted off his shoulders ahead of a major ICC event.

Recently, several Australian cricketers have come out in support of Warner and urged CA to overturn the ban .

CA chairman Lachlan Henderson opens up on the issue

“The view within Cricket Australia is that David is doing particularly well on the field and making a great contribution off the field.

“The first step in terms of David’s leadership ban is to review the code and see if those sanctions are able to be reviewed.

“And the appropriate revisions to that code that would need to be made.”
