England sealed their first-ever T20I series victory in Australia on Wednesday (October 12) at Manuka Oval, Canberra.

Batting first, England were off to a bad start as they were stuttering at 54/4 in the ninth over. It was a terrific effort by the duo of Moeen Ali and Dawid Malan to resurrect and strike consistent boundaries and steer the team on the right path.

After Ali (44) was dismissed, Malan continued to amass runs and finished on 82 off 49 balls, which paved way for England to post a total of 178.

In response, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell failed to provide notable contributions, but Mitchell Marsh (45) held one end firm. In the end, Tim David impressed with a knock of 40 off 23 balls, but it was not enough for the hosts, as they fell short by eight runs. The all-rounder Sam Curran scalped three wickets.

Most importantly, this victory came against a full-strength Australian squad.  England had clinched the first T20I by the same margin as well. It has been a good past month for the Three Lions in the shortest format, wherein they have prevailed against Pakistan and Australia. Th

They certainly have in-built confidence in both departments ahead of T20 World Cup 2022. The swashbuckling batter Liam Livingstone decided to skip the Australia series, and will feature in the T20 WC warmup match against Pakistan on Monday.

The series finale between both teams will take place on Friday (October 14) at the same venue. It will be interesting to whether Australia can avoid a whitewash on home soil.
