In a low-scoring encounter against South Africa in the 3rd ODI, India chased down the target of 100 inside 20 overs losing only three wickets. Thanks to a fine effort by opener Shubman Gill who amassed 49 off 57 deliveries to ease past the visitors.

Gill's effort ensured India of a series win right before the World Cup, that too in the absence of senior players like skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.

After getting out to Lungi Ngidi, Gill spoke about his dismissal and mentioned that he is quite disappointed with the way he got and now expects to do better with the teachings he is getting by all these experiences. He said,

"I am a little disappointed to get out at 49. But it is a pleasure that we won the decider game, our bowlers did well in the first innings very accurately, due to which we were able to stack South Africa on the small target. Many young players were present, including me. We demonstrated that we have the necessary character by the way we returned."

India's regular team will next feature in the World Cup match against their arch-rivals Pakistan on 23rd October, before which they would play two warm-up matches against Australia and New Zealand.
