Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has come in support of Matthew Wade's obstructing the field incident during the first game of the T20I series against England on Sunday (October 9).

Chasing down a target of 209, Australia needed 40 runs off the last four overs. Then, the third ball of Mark Wood's over witnessed Wade top-edged the pull onto the helmet, which got ballooned in the air. In his pursuit to complete a catch, Wood tried to run towards the striker's end but was instead involved in a clash with Wade.

Wade seemingly blocked the bowler's path by pulling his hand, which resulted in the ball landing on the ground. The England players looked disappointed with the incident, but the skipper Jos Buttler decided not to stretch the matter and the match resumed on the normal course.

In the last over, Wade was dismissed, and England sealed the game by eight runs.

Stoinis defended Wade in the controversial incident in the post-match conference and thinks it becomes a chaos, when the ball gets hit on the head.

"When you've been hit in the head and you're running around and don't know where the ball is... it's chaos," Stoinis said.

Buttler had a cheeky response, and reckoned that they have just arrived in Australia, and it will be a long tour for them, so he tried to carry on with the game.

After the conclusion of this series, English team will feature in the T20 World Cup, and stay back in Australia for playing the three-match ODI series as well.

The second T20I will be played on Wednesday (October 12) at Canberra.
