New Zealand’s spin whiz Ish Sodhi claimed two wickets against Bangladesh in match number three of the ongoing tri-series. He dismissed well-settled opener Najmul Hossain Shanto, and got the number of Mosaddek Hossain a while later during his four-over spell.

The cricketer has now completed 100 wickets in T20Is, thus becoming the first New Zealander and fifth overall to do so.

Ish Sodhi achieves major T20I landmark

Ish Sodhi has become the fifth bowler in the world, and third spinner, to complete 100 T20I wickets. Moreover, he became the third fastest to scale the landmark figure, in terms of number of matches (78) played.

Afghanistan’s enigma machine Rashid Khan remains the quickest to do so, as he reached the milestone in just his 53rd game. Meanwhile, former Sri Lankan captain Lasith Malinga reached the triple-figure off 76 matches.

Shakib al Hasan and Sodhi’s teammate Tim Southee are the other bowlers to feature in the 100-wicket T20I club. The two cricketers have taken 122 and 117 wickets in the format respectively.

Meanwhile, Khan and Malinga’s tally stands at 118 and 107 wickets.

Among the bowlers with more than 100 wickets in T20Is, Ish Sodhi is the only cricketer who achieved the milestone without completing it in either Tests or ODIs. The 29-year-old has collected 41 wickets across 17 Tests and another 48 from 37 ODIs.
