Harbhajan Singh, chief advisor of Punjab Cricket Association, has filed a complaint about malpractices in the state body.

Former India cricketer Punjab Cricket Association's chief advisor Harbhajan Singh has claimed that illegal activities are being carried out by a few office-bearers in the cricketing body. Harbhajan, however, did not reveal the name of the office-bearers.

The bowler alleged of the wrong activities in a letter to PCA members and district units of the body. He has also sent a letter about the wrongdoings to CM Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

"The crux of the matter is PCA is trying hard to induct 150 members with voting rights to tilt the balance in their favour and these inductions are being done without assent of the apex council/general body or without consulting the Chief Advisor (Singh)," he wrote in his letter .

"Therefore, these are against the BCCI constitution, guidelines of PCA and violations of transparency and ethical norms of the sports bodies,"

"To hide their illegal activities, they are not organising formal meetings of the PCA and are taking all decisions suo moto which serve their selfish motives," Harbhajan added.

Harbhajan, who was recently seen in the Road Safety Series, told PTI about receiving complaints about the wrong practices being carried out by the office-bearers and how he, despite being the chief advisor, was kept in the dark about several policy decisions.

"Today, I was told that they have already taken membership subscription amount from 60- to 70 people. The process needs to be stopped immediately. I had no option but to individually write to the members and also inform the Chief Minister,” Singh told PTI.

Singh played for the Indian national cricket team from 1998 – 2016 as a right-arm spin bowler and was conferred the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour, in 2009. He retired from all forms of cricket in December 2021.
