In a latest development, IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have appointed their mentor and former Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir as the global mentor of the SuperGiants.

The Sanjeev Goenka-owned franchise, which made its debut in the Indian Premier League in the 2022 season, recently extended its wings by buying the Durban-based franchise of the upcoming T20 League in South Africa, called SA20.

Gambhir served as mentor of LSG during their inaugural season, and under his guidance, the KL Rahul-led unit made its way to the playoffs.

It's time for some more sleepless nights: Gautam Gambhir

Speaking on his appointment, Gambhir said that he is looking forward to spearhead the SuperGiants franchise to global success.

The two-time World Cup and IPL-winner further added that it is his dream to see the SuperGiants claim global recognition, and he will do everything to repay the faith that the owners have shown in him.

"In my ideology of a team sport, designations don't play much role. At best, they are there to facilitate a process to make a team win. As a Global mentor of SuperGiants, I look forward to some added responsibility."

Meanwhile, Gambhir, who led the Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles during his captaincy tenure, added another title to his legacy as he led the India Capitals to a 104-run win in the summit clash of the Legends League Cricket 2022 against Bhilwara Kings.
