Suryakumar Yadav has scored India's fastest half-century against South Africa in the 2nd T20I currently being played in Guwahati, Assam. The stylish right hand batter got to his half century in just 18 balls with the help of 5 fours & 4 maximums. He is the third on the list when it comes to fastest T20I half-centuries against South Africa just behind Moeen Ali (16 balls) and Chris Gayle (17 balls).

With the fifty to his name Surya added another milestone to his tally as he became the fastest batter to score 1000 runs in T20I cricket, beating the previous record of Glenn Maxwell who took 604 balls to reach 1000 runs at a strike rate of 166.

Suryakumar Yadav achieved this feat in just 573 balls at a staggering strike rate of 174.

He got to the landmark with a maximum over deep point thanks to the over waist no ball by Parnell, who had praised him a day prior by adding that he is currently one of the best T20I in current times.

Surya, who is currently the highest ranked T20I batter for India has been proving his worth for a while. In today's encounter he went all guns blazing and took apart the Proteas bowlers. At the time of writing Surya is at 55 off 19 balls.

India look in control in the contest and would look to pile up a good score on the board in order to seal the series.
