The All-India Selection Committee on Sunday announced the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.

As expected, a lot of chopping and changing has been done and Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Indian side for the 3-match ODI series, slated to begin from October 6. With the T20 World Cup just around the corner, the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli have been rested from the series.

The biggest surprise from the squad selection was the inclusion of Rajat Patidar. The dashing batter has been knocking the door for quite some time now and has done well for RCB in the Indian Premier League and for Madhya Pradesh in the domestic circuit.

Shubman Gill, who has been in fine touch for India as of late will most likely open alongside Dhawan. There will be a tough fight between Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson for the wicket-keepers' slot.

The right-arm pacer from Bengal, Mukesh Kumar also gets his maiden call-up and he'll be eager to prove his worth at the international level.

Expect Deepak Chahar to lead the pace attack alongside Mohammed Siraj and Avesh Khan. The spin department will be taken care by Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi.
