Sri Lanka prevailed by 11 runs over United Arab Emirates in Match 4 of Women's Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday (October 2) at Sylhet.

Sri Lanka posts a below-par total

Batting first, the likes of Chamari Athapaththu (6) and Hasini Perera (2) again failed to provide notable contributions to Sri Lanka.

It was Harshitha Samarawickrama's composed knock along with the support of Nilakshi de Silva (19) which kept the Lankan team floating well. After Samarawickrama (37) fell, only Anushka Sanjeewani (17) could be potent, as Sri Lanka posted a total of 109.

Vaishnave Mahesh and Mahika Gaur were successful in taking three wickets each for UAE.

UAE fall short

In response to the chase, the talented batters, Esha Oza (4) and Kavisha Egodage (3) fell in quick succession.

Theertha Satish surely provided stability to the team, but her dismissal certainly turned the tide towards the Lankan team. In addition, the rain delay caused the revised target of 66 runs frim 11 overs for UAE.

Kavisha Dilhari and Inoka Ranaweera were impressive with two wickets to contain runs and help Sri Lanka to secure a 11-run victory.

Brief Scores:

Sri Lanka Women- 109/9 (20)

Harshitha Samarawickrama 37 (40), Nilakshi de Silva 19 (24);
