As expected, this was a walk in the park for the Pakistan women's team as they thrashed Malaysia women by 9 wickets in their Asia Cup opener on Sunday.

Pakistan won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling first on a surface that offered plenty for the bowlers upfront.

It won't be unfair to say that the inexperienced Malaysian side were never really in the contest as they lost wickets at regular intervals and it made life easy for the Pakistan bowlers.

Elsa Hunter was the lone bright spot for Malaysian team as she top scored with a gritty 29, but received no support from the other end. Apart from her, Wan Julia (11) was the only batter to cross the double digit, as they ended with a score of just 57 on the board.

Omaima Sohail was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, with figures of 3 for 19 in three overs.

Chasing a paltry 58 was no big task for Pakistan as they went about their business with ease. Muneeba Ali remained unbeaten on 21, and was well supported by Sidra Ameen (31). Malaysia got a consolation wicket of Ameen, but there was no other joy for them as Pakistan cruised past the target without breaking a sweat.
