Ben Stokes slams Harsha Bhogle for bringing culture in 'Mankad' controversy

England Test captain and prolific all-rounder Ben Stokes lambasted the renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle a day after he put out explosive Tweets directed at the England media over the Deepti Sharma-Charlotte Dean run-out controversy.

Stokes took to Twitter to express his disappointment with Bhogle's tweets and said that even after more than two years, he still receives some unpleasant messages from Indian fans for the 2019 World Cup final.

The England all-rounder also went on to ask the Indian commentator why he is bringing culture into the imfamous 'Mankad' controversy.

For the unversed, the 61-year-old put out a string of tweets on how England fans and media are targeting Deepti Sharma over a run-out, that was legitimate according to MCC laws. 

Bhogle also pointed out how it is a cultural thing in England to refuse the dismissal. Responding to the Harsha Bhogle's tweet, Stokes wrote:

"Harsha…bringing culture into people's opinion over a Mankad?''

The England all-rounder quoted another tweet of the Indian commentator and wrote: 

“Harsha…2019 WC final was over 2 years ago, I still till this day revive countless messages calling me all sorts from Indian fans, does this disturb you?." 

In another tweet, Stokes stated: 

“Is this a culture thing?? ….absolutely not, I receive messages regarding the overthrows from people all over the world, as people all over the world have made comments on the Mankad dismissal, not just people who are English."

The star all-rounder signed off saying:

“What about the rest of the world's reaction to this particular incident? England isn’t the only cricket playing nation who have spoken about the ruling."  

Deepti Sharma had run Charlie Dean out at the non-striker's end in the third and the final ODI against England at Lord's to clean sweep the hosts 3-0. However, the dismissal erupted a massive controversy, which left the cricketing world divided.
