Dismissing all the doubts regarding Rohit Sharma, former England spinner Graeme Swann backed the former to prosper both as a batter and a captain in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

After India's group stage exit in the 2022 Asia Cup, scrutiny around Rohit's leadership intensified. With the India skipper short of big runs, it only helped the criticism grow.

However, Rohit and Co. heaved a sigh of relief as Team India beat Australia 2-1 and currently lead 1-0 in the three-match T20I series versus South Africa.

Swann predicts Rohit's hundred in T20 WC 2022

Asserting that captaincy is not the reason behind Rohit's struggles with the bat, Swann predicted that the 35-year-old will score a ton in the nearing ICC tournament.

"It’s just form, when you play cricket, this gets thrown around a lot the captaincy pressure and everything. People used to say about Virat at RCB. As a batsman, you are not thinking about captaincy when you go out and bat, you go out with a clear mind and focus on the ball,"

"Rohit is definitely the player who will get a hundred in the T20 World Cup, I have absolutely no doubt about it. I have no worries about Rohit Sharma. He is the right man to lead and he has not been at his best form but India are consistently posting big scores."

Meanwhile, India are hosting South Africa in a T20I series. The two teams will clash against each other at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati in the second T20I of the ongoing series on October 2.
