South African spinner Keshav Maharaj asserted that the visiting team should not think too much about the disappointing loss against India in the first T20I and try to rectify the mistakes ahead of the second T20I.

Young pacers Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar wreaked havoc with the new ball to set up a convincing eight-wicket win for India in the first T20I against South Africa on Wednesday.

Speaking ahead of the second T20I in Guwahati, Maharaj weighed in on rectifying the mistakes which caused the downfall of the Proteas' team in the series opener.

"I don't think we want to dwell too much on what has transpired, but it is something that we can address going forward and hopefully we can rectify that," Proteas left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj.

Maharaj, who top-scored in the first match with 41, said the team needs to address the woes against the new ball in the powerplay overs.

"I think something we need to address is the new ball and the way we're playing it. There is a lot of swing, so maybe it's adjusting our plans and mindset and building from there."

The 32-year-old Proteas cricketer further said that the batting line-up needs to reassess and find ways to counter the moving ball.
