New South Wales were bundled out for a meagre 76 in 21.4 overs in their second encounter against Western Australia in the Australia Domestic One-Day Cup. The Blues recorded their lowest ever List A total in this process.

Lowest ever totals in Australia Domestic One-Day Cup

  • 51 by South Australia vs Tasmania, Hobart, 2003
  • 59 by Western Australia vs Victoria, Melbourne, 1969
  • 59 by CA XI vs New South Wales, Sydney, 2015
  • 62 by Queensland vs Western Australia, Perth, 1976
  • 62 by Tasmania vs Western Australia, Brisbane, 2014
  • 65 by Victoria vs Queensland, Ballarat, 2003
  • 76 by New South Wales vs Western Australia, Perth, 2022*

Their decision to bat first on a spicy WACA surface proved costly for the Blues, as they were reduced to a ridiculous 20 for six inside nine overs. Western Australia's opening bowlers, Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff, were the chief architects of NSW's epic collapse.

However, vital contributions from famed international players Sean Abbott (12 off 20), Daniel Sams (26 off 31) and Nathan Lyon (11 off 16) took them to 76. It's unimaginable where NSW would've finished had these players not stepped up.

The iconic cricket club has had a torrid start to their campaign this season. They have lost their first two games against Victoria and Western Australia, by three runs (DLS method) and nine wickets, respectively.

They are yet to take on the top two teams, South Australia and Tasmania. So, the journey isn't going to be smooth for NSW, and it's needless to say that they have to win their remaining matches in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.
