The County Championship Division Two witnessed four matches being continued on Thursday (September 29) at Hove, Nottingham and Derby and Worcester. With this, the 2022 season came to an end as well, with Nottinghamshire emerging as champions. 


Sussex vs Glamorgan

Sussex were at 312/0 at the start of the final day, with Tom Haines and Ali Orr at the crease. The duo could add only 16, as Orr fell two runs shy of his double century. Haines continued his momentum to score 177 off 257, before getting dismissed to Ajaz Patel.

Then, the batting all-rounder Danial Ibrahim stole the show by remaining unbeaten on 100 off 194 balls. Sussex ended on 554/8 and saved the match as well.

Nottinghamshire vs Durham

Durham needed 563 runs, while Notts needed eight more wickets to secure a title victory. The experienced batters like Liam Trevaskis (14) and Nic Maddinson (13) could not provide notable contributions.  


Chris Benjamin (33) and Jonathan Bushnell (29) were involved in a 44-run partnership, which gave a ray of hope to draw the match. However, Broad and Liam Patterson-White were proficient with three scalps each to help the team in winning the game by 462 runs. 

On the account of cementing a top place in the table, Notts were declared the champions of Division Two.

Derbyshire vs Leicestershire

At the start of Day 4, Leicestershire were at 131/2 and trailed by 188 runs in the second innings. The in-form Lewis Hill was clinical with his strokeplay to contribute 60 off 157, and exude confidence to the lower middle-order. 


Afterwards, the young spinner Rehan Ahmed, being promoted in the batting order smashed 122 off 113, laced with 14 fours and five sixes. Then, Harry Swindells (46) and Tom Scriven (30) were strong support as match ended as a draw.
