Central Punjab’s Abdullah Shafique listed an imperial 232 against Sindh in the first innings of their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy bout.

The cricketer clubbed 28 boundaries and four sixes in the process, and scored his runs at a strike-rate of nearly 89.

Shafique has played seven Tests for Pakistan ever since he made his debut for the country back in November 2021. Remarkably, the right-handed batter has been averaging 66.90 for his side, with four half-centuries and two hundreds to his name already.

Turning up for Central Punjab in their first match of the 2022 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy season, the 22-year-old struck 232 runs of the highest order in Rawalpindi.

Notably, he accounted for more than half of his side’s overall first innings total of 428, with the next best individual score being Aamer Yamin’s 70.

Shafique even formed a 135-run stand with Yamin, which stretched Central Punjab’s total past the 350-run mark on Day 1 itself.

The innings marked the first double ton of his first-class career, and also took him past 1,000 runs in the prestigious format.

Shafique played his last Test for Pakistan in July this year against Sri Lanka at Galle. He is now expected to resume his Test duties in his country’s upcoming high-profile home series against England in December.
