Virat Kohli whacked a match-winning half-century in the series-decider against Australia in Hyderabad. The innings, coupled with his prolific run at the Asia Cup 2022, marked his return to form for India just ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar recently attributed Kohli’s success to the break he took prior to the Asia Cup in UAE.

Sanjay Bangar claims Kohli’s old rhythm is back

After India’s win in the third T20I, former cricketer Sanjay Bangar praised Kohli for his contributions to Indian cricket and described him as a “champion cricketer”. The cricketer-turned-commentator also claimed that the batter is now hungry for runs again as it can be displayed through his “body language” on the field.

Bangar added that Kohli can now be seen enjoying his game, despite going through an extended phase of low scores earlier. While speaking on Star Sports, he said:

“He is a champion batter. He has done that for India for such a long period of time. He knows he is in that phase where he is enjoying his game big time. He knows that the rhythm is back, the hunger is back, you can see that with the body language that he is displaying along with his mates.”

“There was a phase where the pressure was getting to him. But after the break, the sense of enjoyment is back, the feeling of hitting a cricket ball is back in his game.”
