England white-ball head coach Matthew Mott provided an update on Jos Buttler's injury as the team management wants to ensure full recovery of their skipper before the T20 World Cup kicks off in Australia next month.

Buttler, who has missed out on the action so far in the ongoing series against Pakistan, suffered from a calf injury in the recently-concluded edition of The Hundred. All-rounder Moeen Ali has assumed the captain's role in the absence of Buttler.

'He's still a while off' - Mott speaks on Buttler's injury

Confirming that the 32-year-old is still not fully-fit, Mott adopts a no-risk policy in this case with the next ICC event just around the corner.

"With regard to Jos, he's still a while off, he's not a player we want to take a risk on at this stage, so close to the World Cup, and it was a reasonably significant injury that he had," Mott said as quoted in the post-match press conference.

However, he is progressing well and could well feature in the last two T20Is of the Pakistan series.

"So, he’s champing at the bit for a game, but we’ll just try and see how we go and maybe in the last game or two we might give him a chance,"

With the series levelled 2-2, England and Pakistan will collide in the fifth match of the ongoing T20I series on September 28 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
