Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav on Sunday became the leading run-scorer in T20I cricket of this year surpassing Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee.

The star Indian T20I batter accomplished this remarkable feat during the third and final match of the three-match series between India and Australia in Hyderabad.

Coming to the crease at a crucial juncture in the game, Suryakumar dazzled with the bat against the Australian bowlers. He smashed 69 off just 36 deliveries during a high-pressure run chase in the series decider to help his team win the game. His knock comprised five fours and five sixes. SKY's knock earned him a player of the match award.

He is ahead of Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee (626), Sabawoon Davizi of the Czech Republic (612), Pakistan's star batter Mohammad Rizwan (556), and West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran (553).

SKY adds another feather to his cap

He added another feather to his cap after surpassing Shikhar Dhawan to score the most runs in a calendar year for India in T20I cricket. Dhawan held the record for amassing 689 runs in 18 matches at a strike rate of 147.22 while also maintaining an average of 40.52 in 2018.

The right-handed stylish batter currently holds an exceptional strike rate of 182.84 and has shunned the raging debate surrounding the number four position in white-ball cricket.
