Axar Patel thinks the main mantra to his successes in the last few months have been backing his strengths in crunch moments.

Patel was named Player of the Series in the three-match T20I series against Australia, which concluded on September 25 at Hyderabad. In the final game, he returned with figures of 3/33, and scalped a total of eight wickets to help India secure a 2-1 series victory.

Earlier this month, Patel came as a cover for the injured Ravindra Jadeja and is a part of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2022 as well.

The 28-year-old has been in bright form since the IPL 2022, wherein he garnered 182 runs and picked six wickets for Delhi Capitals.

In the post-match presentation, the left-arm spinner expressed his delight to be contributing to Team India's series win with his fixed formulas.

"When we do well, and the team wins, it feels special and you're able to contribute it's even better. I always back myself and my strengths against a batter who is playing well and hitting good shots. That's what I've been doing since IPL and in the domestic circuit but to do it for the Indian team, it feels special."

Patel's next international assignment will be home T20I series against South Africa starting September 28 at Thiruvananthapuram.
