Surya Kumar Yadav has reckoned that he is relishing the challenges and responsibilities while donning the role of a no. 4 batter in the Indian team.

On Sunday (September 25), the Indian team registered a 2-1 T20I series victory against Australia at Hyderabad.

Batting first, Australia posted a strong total of 186 on the board, with contributions from Cameron Green (52 off 21) and Tim David (54 off 27).

In response to the chase, India lost their openers early, but Virat Kohli (63 off 48) and Suryakumar Yadav (69 off 36) were mesmerizing to steer the team on the right path.  In the end, Hardik Pandya provided a quickfire contribution of 25* off 16 to seal the game for the Men in Blue.

Surya was named Player of the Match for his blistering innings, wherein he shared his thoughts on the batting intent ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022.

"In that situation [His dismissal], it was much needed. I thought let's take my chance. There were two-three shots in my mind, was trying to hit over mid-off. Thoughts have always been the same, have always wanted to express myself.

"That's how I practice in the nets. Just loving at No.4. A lot of challenges and responsibilities as well [for the T20 WC]. You can't shy away from expressing yourself. Have to be smart."
