Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja believes that the upcoming run of games for the Men in Blue will be crucial to their T20 World Cup 2022 ambitions.

After going down in the first T20I, India fought back and notched up a series-levelling six-wicket win over Australia in an eight over affair in the second T20I here on Friday. Off-late India haven't won as many games as they would have liked. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team failed to reach the final of the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022.

With the T20 World Cup beginning next month, teams will be looking to strike the winning momentum in order to boost their chances of winning the silverware.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, Jadeja highlighted the importance of carrying a winning momentum to Australia for the 20-over multinational tournament.

"From now on, I would say that this is our run to the World Cup. Every game from now on, till we finish with South Africa, India have got to win. Unless we do that, we cannot win the World Cup. If they catch that momentum or even look at it that way, then I think that it would be a good place to be in,"

The batter turned commentator stressed on the idea of being consistent as a team in the World Cup starting next month.

“You ideally want to win and continue on with that momentum. In World Cups, you need consistent wins, you cannot have one win and then one loss. A 2-1 scoreline looks good in a bilateral series win, but that one game you lost could be a crucial game in the World Cup. It could be the semis, or a vital group stage match to qualify for the semis,"

Team India, one of the prime contenders to win the global event, will be looking to win their second T20 title. With only a handful of matches remaining, the Men in Blue are looking to finalize their combination, with some of the key players trying to regain their rhythm and form.
