Adam Gilchrist wants India to make Rishabh Pant a regular in their T20I team

Recently, the Indian think tank decided to move on from Rishabh Pant, the T20I batter, for the time being, following his string of unimpressive outings in the Asia Cup 2022.

But India's first-choice keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik's ordinary form with the bat has called for his exclusion in favour of Pant in the T20I team.

However, legendary Australian keeper-batter Adam Gilchrist thinks that both Pant and Karthik can co-exist in the team, given the former's courage to take on any bowling attack and the latter's versatility to bat anywhere in the lineup.

Gilchrist voices in favour of Pant's inclusion

"The dare of Rishabh Pant, the way he takes on bowling attacks, I think he’s got to be a must in that Indian line-up. They can play together, but I think Rishabh Pant has definitely got to be in there,"

"It'll be interesting to see if they can both play in the same team. I think they can. What they bring to a team the versatility of Dinesh Karthik, he can play at the top of the order, as he has done more so later in his career, be in the middle and late overs to finish."

Notably, Pant managed only 51 runs at a mediocre strike rate of 124.39, following which he was axed from the playing XI in the first T20I against Australia. Interestingly, his alternative, Dinesh Karthik, has also failed to nail his finisher's role to perfection.

With the T20 World Cup being around the corner, the poor batting form of their two first-choice keeper batters has become a massive concern for the Indian team.
