Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan staged a herculean 203-run opening stand, one which consigned the visiting English troops to a 10-wicket defeat in Karachi. The win enabled the ‘Men in Green’ to level their seven-match series against England, after their defeat in the opening contest.

Winning momentum to be carried into the World Cup

After the match, Babar Azam interacted with the media where he talked about his side’s series-levelling win in the second T20I. The hosts were flayed by Moeen Ali and co. in the first match, courtesy of an Alex Hales’ masterclass in the run-chase.

The Pakistani side sparked a remarkable comeback in the next game, handing England a 10-wicket defeat to set up an exciting series ahead. Following the win, the skipper said that they had learned from their mistakes in the first match by discussing them in extensive team meetings.

The opening batter also emphasised the importance of the series, considering it is Pakistan’s final set of fixtures prior to the T20I World Cup in Australia. The captain stated that the team will be looking to improve further with a positive mindset and try to carry a winning momentum into the big tournament next month. He said:

“We try to learn from our past mistakes. We also discuss extensively about them during team meetings. Since we are playing back-to-back matches and with less time to go for the T20 World Cup, we are trying to improve with a positive mindset. These matches are crucial, and we will try to win in order to carry a winning momentum into the T20 World Cup.”
