The Irish cricket team are scheduled to play their second Test at the iconic Lord's Stadium when they take on England next year in a one-off match. England will take on the visitors on June 1 as a dress rehearsal to the Ashes 2023 series.

Interestingly, Ireland have not played a five-day match since 2019, where they lost to England by 143 runs despite displaying gripping cricket at Lord's. Test skipper Andrew Balbirnie has expressed his excitement about playing at Lord's again, this time captaining the Ireland side.

“As a player, there is no doubt that Test cricket is the absolute pinnacle of our sport so we are excited to be returning to Lord’s next year. There is no better place to really learn, develop and test your game as in multi-day cricket.”

Ireland are also slated to play a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against England in September across Leeds, Nottingham, and Bristol.

Ireland's 2023 Test itinerary

Apart from a Test in England, Ireland will play one five-day game in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in March and April, respectively.

They might rope in a fourth Test as well during their Zimbabwe tour in the second half of 2023.
