Uttar Pradesh appoint former India keeper Ajay Ratra as head coach for 2022-23 season

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has appointed former Indian wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra as head coach for the upcoming domestic season. Ratra takes over from another keeper-batter, Vijay Dahiya, who served as head coach for the 2021-22 season.
UP's last silverware in domestic cricket came back in the 2005-06 season when they lifted the Ranji Trophy title under Mohammad Kaif.
Ratra made 18 international appearances for India in 2002 and held the record for the youngest player to register a Test ton until it was broken by Parthiv Patel, who succeeded him in 2003.
The 40-year-old recently undergoing his Level 3 coaching from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), looked forward to his new stint with UP.
“It’s a good opportunity, and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has a good bunch of players, and I am looking forward to working with them and sharing my experiences and channelising all things in one direction.
During my stint with NCA, I worked with a few UPCA cricketers, so I have known most of them, and I think that will help me get accustomed,” - Ratra told Sportstar
Coaching Credentials
The Haryana-born worked with the Delhi Capitals franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an assistant coach for the 2021 edition.
Ratra earlier coached Assam in the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021.
